3 Things I'm Excited About Christmas

Tick-tack-tick-tack.

I'm counting! I'm counting down for the remaining days when my family can be together again even just for a day--oh, well, for a night to be exact.

1. Family

It's not just the gifts that I always look forward about Christmas but it's the thought that my family and relatives will be reunited. No matter how far is the distance that my Uncle Rob and his family has to travel, they always appear during the Christmas eve. I would excitedly go to the Christmas tree and we'd open our presents. It's such an exciting time for me to see all my loved ones.

2. Food

Mom is a great cook! But she cooks even better during Christmas. I don't know if Santa managed to help her aside from wrapping our gifts but mom really becomes a better cook during this time of the year. She prepares several desserts, cookies and many other dishes that will literally make your mouth watery in delight!

3. Gifts

Just like any other kids my age, we all love presents! Well that's probably why most concluded that Christmas is mainly just for kids because we get the most presents. Last Christmas, my dad gave me a wonderful necklace with a breathtaking pendant! Guess what? It's a heart! Since I don't have the money yet to give him expensive presents, probably I'll just bake him some special cookies. (Don't tell him, ok? It's a surprise!) So, what do you think?

Keeping Family History

Do you like to keep your family history? Start now by taking pictures on special events such as weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving and many other celebrations wherein every member of the clan could get together. Write on a journal special dates and events so you will remember them and keep the stories behind the years in your life.

The most important step to keeping your family history is to decide now. Don't decide tomorrow or next week, decide that you will preserve your family history now and coordinate with your kids as to how you can make it a remarkable family activity. Aside from strengthening the links between you and your ancestors, you are also strengthening the link between you and your kids.

Learning Wisdom in Life

Everyday of our lives we get to learn lessons from the experiences and challenges we encounter. No matter how difficult the trials that we have to go through, we can still stand up and say, "I can do this!"

It's funny how we can still utter those words but with the hope that we have in the gospel, we can't help but be motivated and inspired with the great example that the Savior Jesus Christ showed us all. Just like everyone else, he suffered, bled and died but he didn't complain to His Heavenly Father. Sometimes such very thought makes me ashame as my burdens are nothing compared to His but I often find a way to blame others or sometimes, even God. When I think of the many hardships that Jesus has to go through during His mortal ministry here on Earth, I couldn't help but weep and be proud of his great His wisdom and love for us.

I have many shortcomings and insecurities in life, but the assurance that God loves me despite all of my frailties give me hope and the courage to keep on keeping on. I've also learned from this wonderful short poems and stories. They sure are inspiring and reassuring.

Life is Like a Cup of Coffee

I've learned that God is always there in every step of the way. Sometimes we may be lost due to many temptations and roadblocks in life but He's always there, patiently waiting for us.
